We make Grants and Donations

Apart from local and overseas projects which are managed by directly us or in conjunction with other Rotary organisations, we also devote some of our funds to support organisations and individuals who contribute to the well being of the community.  Here are just a few recent examples

Wheelchair Athlete

Local man Martin Rooke is determined to represent his country at Badminton at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. The next three years will require substantial resources to prepare and we are working with Martin to help him raise funds.

Hospice of St Francis

Berkhamsted Rotary recently donated £5500  to the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted. The money was raised from the Berkhamsted Rotary Half Marathon and Fun Run that takes place every year in the first week of March. Hospice staff enter the race, operate a water station and help marshal the route

Hertfordshire Scouts

Ian Cutler, District Commissioner for Scouts in West Herts, visited the Club to receive a cheque for £1,000. The money will be used in two ways:

  • firstly to provide kit to help as many scouts as possible participate in a wide range of scouting activities and

  • secondly to begin a project to explore the possibilities of providing additional access to scouting for disabled children.

Police Welfare Fund

Berkhamsted Rotary has presented Hertfordshire's Chief Constable with a cheque for £2,000 for the Hertfordshire Constabulary Welfare Fund. The Fund financially supports serving police officers, members of police staff and their families who are experiencing monetary hardship

Hospice at Home

We were pleased to be able to donate £7500 to the Pepper Foundation which provides 24 hour care for children with life threatening illnesses and £3800 to the Grove Rennie Hospice at Home which provides support and care for adults and children diagnosed with cancer and other life limiting illnesses

Prostate Cancer Awareness

We donated £5300 to the Aylesbury Vale Prostate Cancer Awareness Group in 2016 to enable them to widen their awareness, education and testing programme throughout Herts and Bucks. The cash was raised by holding a Musical Mosaic Concert featuring talented young musicians

Thanks to the generosity of Berkhamsted people and our sponsors supporting our fund raising events, we were able to donate £52,000 t0 charity in 2017/18 ...... of which approximately 70% went to local causes and 30%  to international causes.
