Dacorum Young Artists Competition enables local schools to recognise and publicise the talents of their Year 4 and 5 pupils (ages 8 to 10).

Organised by Ashridge Decorative and Fine Arts Society, the Arts Society Gade Valley and the Rotary Clubs of Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted, the 2018 competition proved to be the best yet in terms of schools participating and overall entries. We aim to be even more successful in 2019!

The achievements of each participating school will be recognised by a 'Best in School Award' at an Exhibition at Astley Cooper School in early May. In addition, the pupils who come 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall will receive vouchers of £100, £50 and £25 towards the purchase of art materials.

Recognising the demands on time and resources, teachers are encouraged to choose whatever theme they like, to support their own art curriculum.

All entries will be hung at the Exhibition which, in 2019, will be held on 4th May at Astley Cooper School. The pride of the pupils at seeing their pictures shown to friends and family is always evident to everyone who attends..

Do please sign up for the 2019 Competition by simply emailing Danny Bonwitt and detailed information will then be sent to you.

The performance of The Pirates of Penzance on 18 August drew an audience of almost 500 and was hugely enjoyed in perfect, dry, late-summer conditions in the unique Castle surroundings."

Support for Stoke Mandeville

We are pleased to assist Wheelpower based at Stoke Mandeville; the birthplace of the Paralympics. Wheelpower gives opportunities for disabled people to play sport and lead healthy active lives. Last year we donated £1000 to refurbish around 20 sports wheelchairs all now in regular use. This year we donated £750 to provide information leaflets on the benefits of sport and physical activity to disabled people.
